I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Museum at FIT: Fairy Tale Fashions and Babes in Arms

What:  Fairy Tale Fashion

Where: Museum at FIT
             Seventh Ave. at 27th St.
             New York, NY

When: Now through April 16

Who: Tweens and up
Mom's view: If you want to see fairy tale fashions as you've never seen them before, come to the Museum at FIT where they are currently running an exhibit of famous designers re-imagining of well-known fairy tale characters fashions. The exhibit includes many well known fairy tales including Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and Snow White as well as some lesser known fairy tales including The Swan Maidens and Furrypelts. Some of the fashions are beautiful. Some are interesting. Some are down right crazy looking.  It is definitely an exhibit that is worth seeing.  Small children who would probably be bored, anyone who is not into fashion, and anyone who is particularly bothered by familiar characters not looking the way they are used to probably would not enjoy this exhibit.  Anyone else would probably at least find it fascinating even if they don't particularly like all of the fashions in the exhibit or even if they don't like any of the fashions in the exhibit. This exhibit like all exhibits at the Museum at FIT is free and should not take a huge amount of time to go through unless you take a particularly long time at each individual fashion. For more about the exhibit go to http://www.fitnyc.edu/museum/exhibitions/fairy-tale-fashion.php.

What: Babes in Arms

Where: Musicals Tonight
             Lion Theatre
            410 W. 42nd St.
            New York, NY

When: Now through March 20, 2016

Who: Recommended for Ages 13 and up

Mom's view: Though the show is a bit dated, we just love Musicals Tonight's mission to bring back old musicals for short runs to give people the opportunity to see shows they otherwise would not get to see. This particular show is full of well-known now classic songs such as The Lady is a Tramp, My Funny Valentine, and Johnny One Note. These shows are brought in quickly and for a short time so there are no costume changes and not much of a set. However, neither of those takes away from the enjoyment of the show nor does the fact that the cast walks around with the scripts in their hands. On the whole, none of the cast members seem to have to consult their scripts all that much. The cast is talented and energetic. The singing and dancing are good with the tap dancing of young Sebastian Maynard Palmer as a particular highlight. All in all, it is a fun show worth seeing. While the show is recommended for teens and above, if you have a slightly younger child who particularly enjoys musicals especially older musicals and/or musicals with a touch of romance, they would probably enjoy this show. And that's Mom's view. Tune in tomorrow for more about Museum at FIT: Fairy Tale Fashions and Babes in Arms.
