I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Saturday Night Live The Exhibiton and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

What: Saturday Night Live The Exhibition

Where: 417 5th Ave.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages
Mom's view:  If you love Saturday Night Live, you will love this exhibit as you will be totally immersed in the Saturday Night Live experience. You will be able to learn about what a week is like at Saturday Night Live and how the show gets put together. You will see props from the show including many of the products used in the famous Saturday Night Live commercial spoofs. You will see many costumes from Saturday Night Live even including some worn by some of the talented musicians who have played Saturday Night Live. There are even some interactive areas. You can pretend to get ready to go on in a replica Saturday Night Live dressing room. You can pretend to run the show in a replica control room. You can even sit on the couch in the Wayne's World set. Unfortunately, you cannot go on the replica Saturday Night Live stage, however.  You will get to see actual Saturday night light show clips playing throughout the exhibit.  Young kids who are not familiar with Saturday Night Live may still enjoy seeing some of the colorful costumes and crazy props and may particularly enjoy the interactive areas of the exhibit. However, its the adults who grew up on Saturday Night Live who will enjoy this fun nostalgia trip the most. If you have ever liked Saturday night live at anytime in its history, you definitely won't want to to miss this exhibit.

What: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Where: Barrymore Theatre
              243 W. 47th St.
              New York, NY

Who: Recomended for ages 13 and up
Mom's view: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a very interesting and completely entertaining theatrical experience. It is the story of a Christopher a boy with Asperger's syndrome who is trying to solve the mystery of what happened to his neighbor's dog. What makes this show so special is the entire show is presented as if you are viewing everything that happens through Christopher's eyes. This provides a unique perspective on what it is actually like to be someone with Asperger's syndrome. The show should be required viewing for anyone who needs a lesson on tolerance and needs to find out what it is like to live in someone else's skin. However, even people who do not need such a lesson will still enjoy this show. The acting is so good and the show is so entertaining that when it's over, you won't believe that two and a half hours has really gone by. We would not recommend the show for very young children because they might be frightened or upset by some of the subject matter. Older children would probably enjoy it, however.
And that's Mom's view. For more about Saturday Night Live the Exhibition, tune in to tomorrow's Talking Topics post.
