I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday- e.t.c. Children's Book Tour of Central Park Tour and You're A Good Man Charlie Brown

We were given a free tour of Central Park for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own based on our experience.
What: Children's Book Tour of Central Park by e.t.c (events tailor-made and customized)

Where: Central Park
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

Mom's view: e.t.c is a company that provides customized events and walking tours in New York City. We participated in one of their children's book tours of Central Park. We had a great time walking around Central Park and discussing books with our tour guides, Evan and Isabella, and visiting book related sites. If your child love books, they will love this tour. It is like stepping into a storybook. They will get to visit statues of famous book characters like Alice in Wonderland and authors like Hans Christian Anderson. Climbing on these statues is not only allowed but encouraged. They will see locations that were mentioned in well-known books including the pond where Stuart Little went sailing or the carousel mentioned in the Catcher in the Rye. A tour like this is a great way to explore the park especially if you are not all that familiar with it. The park is huge and there is so much to do there that it can be overwhelming.  e.t.c tours make the park manageable and enjoyable. In addition to the tour which we were given they also have others tours and events. For younger children, there are tours that focus more on fairy tales. For adults, there are Central Park tours that focus on literary legends as well as tours in other locations besides Central Park. For more about e.t.c and the tours and events they offer or to book one for yourself go to http://etccustomevents.com/. For more about Central Park go to http://www.centralparknyc.org/.

We were given free tickets to You're A Good Man Charlie Brown for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own based on our experience.

What: You're A Good Man Charlie Brown

Where: York Theatre
             619 Lexington Avenue
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Now through June 26, 2016

Mom's view:  For the first time, kids and not adults are starring in a professional production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown in New York City, and you won't want to miss it. Where else can you see talented young stars who have appeared in such shows as Matilda, Kinky Boots, and School of Rock in such a small intimate setting. It is like watching them perform in your living room. Anyone who loves  Peanuts will love this show based on the comic strip. It is full of familiar characters including Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy.  It  is full of familiar stories including Lucy the Psychiatrist and the baseball team that just can't win a game. It is full of familiar elements including Lucy's unrequited love for Schroeder, Charlie Brown's unrequited love for the little red-headed girl and Linus' love for his blanket. The songs are great fun. They include Schroeder's ode to Beethoven((Beethoven Day), Snoopy's ode to his nightly meal (Suppertime) and an ode to everything good (Happiness). While being familiar with the comic strip definitely adds to the enjoyment of the show, even if you have never heard of Peanuts you will still enjoy this terrific show. It is extremely fun and entertaining. It is a great show for all ages.  For more information or to order tickets go to http://www.yorktheatre.org/youre-a-good-man-charlie-brown.html/
