I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Missing Golden Ticket and Other Splendiferous Secrets and Love is a Four-Legged Word

Me - Today I am recommending The Missing Golden Ticket and Other Splendiferous Secrets by Roald Dahl. It was about the writing of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It also told how Roald Dahl felt about different things. In the back of the book it gave writing advice. This book was really interesting. It was fun to learn what the original draft of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was like and  reading it makes me want to read the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have seen the original movie Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but I have not seen the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I have not read the book either. Kids that like Roald Dahl books especially those that like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would like this book.
Mom - Today I am recommending Love is a Four-Legged Word by Michele Gorman. Love is a Four-Legged Word is the story of Scarlet and Rufus and Shannon. Shannnon and Rufus were best friends but there was never anything romantic between them. When Rufus met, fell in love with, and married Scarlet, instead of breaking up the friendship Shannon and Scarlet became best friends as well. Scarlet even brought Shannon into her dog training business. Then, when  Scarlet and Rufus have trouble conceiving a baby suddenly everything changes and neither the marriage nor the friendship might survive. This book skillfully portrays a troubled marriage without picking sides. Both Scarlet and Rufus have their good points and bad points. Neither is a hero and neither is a villain. That makes the book seem more real. The book also does a good job of portraying a true friendship between two women.  It is a romance and a female buddy book, and a cute dog book all rolled into one.
