I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Belly Laugh Riddles and Puns, Saving Phoebe Murrow, and How to Protect (or Destroy) Your Online Repuration

We may have been given some or all of the books mentioned below for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Me - Today I am recommending Belly Laughs Riddles and Puns for Kids. It is a good book for kids with a sense of humor. It is fun to read with your family or friends and try to guess the answers. Even though it has a lot of pages, it is quick to go through because there are not a lot of jokes and puns on a page. It even comes with a duh button to push for jokes that are really obvious. The only bad part about the jokes is that a lot of them are repeated in two or more places in the book.  Over all it's a great book especially for young kids that love riddles.

Mom - Today I am recommending two books that deal with what can happen when things go wrong in our modern digital world.
The first is the novel, Saving Phoebe Murrow by Herta Feely. This is a modern story of mothers and daughters. It also deals with the problems of living in an overly connected world where anyone can do and say whatever they want online.  Phoebe and Jessie were best friends. When their mothers' interference leads to the end of their friendship,  it sets in motion a series of events which include Phoebe being bullied online and which may eventually lead to a tragedy. This a  well written book full of well drawn characters. It is  a book that really gets under your skin. Once you pick it up you will not be able to put it down, and the memory of it will stick with you long after you have read it. However, it is important to note that the book is not all completely sad so if you are afraid to read it for that reason don't be. It is a book that makes you think about the world we live in and how hard it is to strike the right balance between protecting our children and actually putting them in more danger.
The second book is the non-fiction book How to Protect (or Destroy) Your Reputation Online by John David. Mr. David heads a PR Group that counsels clients on marketing, reputation, and public relations. His book deals with how to build a reputation online, how to protect a reputation online and how to attempt to repair a reputation online when things go wrong. It deals with both individuals and companies and even includes a section regarding managing your reputation on online reviews sites. It is a very informative book and an important resource in the digital age when it only takes a few clicks to change a life in a bad way. Even if you don't think you need this book now, it is a good book to have in case you ever do.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
