I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tip for Tuesday - Books : Marley: A Dog Like No Other, The College Bucket List and Fatal Option

We may have been given some of the books listed below for free for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own. This post may also contain affiliate links. If you click on a link and make a purchase, we may be compensated.

Me - Today I am recommending Marley: A Dog Like No Other by John Grogan. This book is a true story which the movie, Marley and Me was based off of. It's about a dog named Marley and his owners. This was a fun book to read. It was also funny. The dog was a lot of trouble. In one chapter, he ate a necklace. They were trying to get it back, but they couldn't because he swallowed it. People who like true stories about animals will like this book. Over all, it was a really enjoyable book.

Mom - Today I am recommending two books. One is a great gift for a teenagers going off to college. The other is about a father and his teenage children trying to cope in the wake of his wife's mysterious death.

The first book is The College Bucket List 101 Fun, Unforgettable and Maybe Even Life-Changing Things to Do Before Graduation Day by Kourtney Jason and Darcy Pedersen. This book is a great present for a student heading off to college. It is broken down into sections like Things You'll Treasure Years From Now, Things to Do For Your Health and Things to Do With Your Friends That You'll Never Forget. Some of the suggestions are kind of obvious like Explore Your Campus and Create a Resume. Other ones are good ideas that students might not think of on their own like Attempt to Learn a Different Language and Send a Friend a Care Package. Some are sketchy and I wouldn't really recommend them myself like Kiss Someone You Just Met or Have a Night Stand. There is a whole chapter on drinking and going to bars. I don't think college students need to be encouraged to drink. They do plenty of that already. I don't think anyone could actually complete the whole book. For instance not everyone is going to Study Abroad or Get Mentioned in the School Newspaper. However, it is still a fun read and might even give college students some ideas. Hopefully, sensible ones  which they are not going to regret.

The second book is Fatal Option by Chris Beakey.  Stephen Porter's wife was killed in a mysterious accident that may or may not have been a suicide. As the sole surviving parent, he would do anything for his kids even if it means getting behind the wheel of his car when he's been drinking. Unbeknownst to Stephen, his teenage daughter, Sara is in love with a teacher from her school, Kiernan O'Shea whose younger brother, Aidan she tutors. However, Sara is not the only one with secrets, Kiernan may have secrets he is keeping from her. Meanwhile, Sara's younger brother, Kenneth is a sensitive artistic type who ends up getting bullied by a tough guy from their school, Marco Niles. Marco is not just your average bully. He has secrets of his own. All of these plots and characters and more converge in different ways one fateful snowy night and not all of them will necessarily make it out alive. This book is so jam packed that it is the equivalent of an action movie in book form. It never stops from beginning to end. It is a thrilling a ride that will not only keep you guessing but keep your interested from cover to cover.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.

  1. These books sound interesting but probably more like for my younger daughter, I don't think they are made for me.
