I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday -Central Park Zoo and Tisch Children's Zoo

What: Central Park Zoo

Where: 830 Fifth Avenue
             New York, NY

Who: All ages
Me - The Central Park Zoo was so much fun. They had seals and sea lions in water. Although of course they had the sea lions and seals in two different places. There were two sea lions and two seals. There was a snow leopard that was so pretty. There were two brown bears, but I could only find one. The bears were both sleeping. There was one part where you go inside this place and it is really warm, but we left that part without looking because we got too hot. There where lots of penguins, but we didn't stay there too long either because we had a lot more to go and because they were feeding them so it smelled like fish. There were also two red pandas. I love red pandas they are so cute. Melia thought red pandas  were black and white like regular pandas, but had red in the black. When she saw what they really looked like she was convinced they where not pandas. I really enjoyed the central park zoo and I would really recommend that you go.

Mom's view: If you are looking for  large zoo with a ton of different animals, this is not it. However, this is a great zoo for if you don't have a lot of time or if you are traveling with people with short attention spans. This makes it the perfect zoo for small children who may get bored quickly at a larger zoo. There are a variety of different animals here although not a quite as large  a variety as at other zoos. Also, where other zoos might have several of a particular type of animal this zoo mostly only has one or two of each animal. Some of the animals they do have include a snow leopard, sea lions, bears, birds and monkeys.  This zoo is also good if you are on a budget since it costs a less than other zoos although not as much less as you would think. Other zoos are a lot larger and the prices are higher, but the price does not increase in proportion to the size. For instance the Bronx Zoo is more than 10 times larger but actually doesn't even cost twice as much as the Central Park Zoo. Still, it all may balance out in the end since the Bronx Zoo has a lot of extras that need to be paid for separately and are not included in the general admission price. I am not sure if this is true of all larger zoos, In any case, all this does not take away from the fact that the Central Park Zoo is still a nice little zoo that you and your family can enjoy even when you don't have a lot of time or money. What: Tisch Children's Zoo

Where: 830 Fifth Avenue
             New York, NY

Who: All ages but especially children 2 to 8

Mom's view: Although the Tisch Children's Zoo is a part of the Central Park Zoo, it is not in the exact same location as the rest of the zoo. It is located about 4 miles away at the 65th Street transverse. The children's zoo has mostly farm animals like a pigs, sheep, goats, and a cow. It is probably a lot  more fun for small children than the main zoo. It is much more interactive than the main zoo. Children do not just look at animals here. They can pretend to be birds hatching out of an egg or a turtle in a shell They can listen to the sounds different animals make by pressing down on replicas of the animals. There are so many other fun things do here as well. It is like a tiny zoo and a play area rolled into one. As a result, it is probably even more entertaining to many young children than the zoo itself. The Central Park Zoo is a good place to go when you don't have a lot of time. The Tisch Children's Zoo may not be, however. Once they get here, your children will have so much fun, they won't want to leave. For more information about the Tisch Children's Zoo go to http://centralparkzoo.com/exhibits/tisch-children-s-zoo.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
