I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Prospect Park Zoo

What: The Prospect Park Zoo

Where: 450 Flatbush Avenue
             Brooklyn, NY

Who: All ages

Me - The Prospect Park Zoo was fun. There was a bunch of turtles all next to each other on a log. We got to see a sea lion feeding. There were two sea lions. One was Dora, and we forgot the other ones name. They threw fish to the sea lions, and they made the sea lions do all kinds of tricks so they could get exercise and practice different behaviors. It was interesting. I have never seen an animal feeding at a zoo before. However, I did see a sea lion show at the New York Aquarium.  They had extremely cute prairie dogs at the Prospect Park Zoo. They had a play area for little kids. They had a net that was supposed to be a spider web. Also, they had these big fake eggs so kids could pretend to be hatched.  There was a barn with some farm animals. The zoo was very similar to the Central Park Zoo, and the Queens Zoo, but much smaller than the Bronx Zoo. It was a cool zoo and a good place to go especially if you don't have a lot of time, but you love zoos and animals.
Mom - The Prospect Park Zoo is one of New York City's smaller city zoos. It is very similar to the Central Park Zoo and the Queens Zoo. It shouldn't take you too long to go through the entire zoo. Thus, it is a great zoo for small children or anyone with a short attention span.  The majority of the zoo is located in one large circle and their are 4 main sections of animals including Discovery Trail, Animal Lifestyles, Hall of Animals and a barn featuring farm animals.  Some of the animals you will find here include sea lions, fish, turtles, monkeys, and prairie dogs. There are also areas where kids can pretend to be animals like a bird hatching out of an egg or spider in a web or a frog on a lily pad.  The zoo offers a Discovery Center, zoo quests and the opportunity to observe a sea lion training session. The sea lion training sessions are fun and interesting. They are a lot more interesting than so called sea lion shows we have seen in other venues. The zoo also offers programs and events for various ages. The zoo is open all year around, but tickets cannot be purchased on-line.  There is no parking at the zoo, but there is parking nearby. For more information go to http://prospectparkzoo.com/,
