I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

We were given free tickets to Everything About a Day (Almost)! for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Everything About A Day (Almost)!

Where: TADA! Youth Theatre
            15 W. 28th St.
            New York, NY

When: Through August 3, 2017

Who: Ages 3 and up

Me - Everything About A Day (Almost)! is about a day in the life of a kid. There is really no story to it. It just a series of songs and little skits. It goes from waking up in the morning to going to school to the things that happen after school. There were songs about taking tests, going to dance class, wanting to eat dessert before dinner and more. The songs were fun.  The skits were funny. Like there was one recurring skit about these two kids who couldn't decide what to do, and when they finally decided it was dinnertime. The acting was good. The kids in TADA! are very talented actors. The singing was nice. The dancing was very good. I liked that there was a tap dance number. There has never been a tap dance number in any of the other TADA! shows I have seen. Kids would really relate to this show, but it is a good show for everyone.

We were given free tickets to Puffs for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Puffs or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic

Where: New World Stages
             340 W. 50th St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for ages 13 and up

Me  & Mom - Puffs was fun. It was about a guy who finds out he is a wizard except this guy is no savior. In fact, he is a little more nerdy and little less heroic than someone like Harry Potter. The show is actually a spoof of Harry Potter. In this version, the male sidekick is the smart one, and the female sidekick is actually the daughter of one of the bad guys struggling with her legacy. Puffs is a very funny show. There are lot of references to Harry Potter, and there is even a character, Harry Potter, although the character is played by a girl. The show stands on its own so even if you have never seen or read Harry Potter you can still enjoy it. However, if you have read the books or seen the movies the show will be even more meaningful and entertaining for you. It is like being more of an insider in on all of the jokes and not just the obvious ones. The show is not good for small children because some parts may be scary. As in Harry Potter, there are some really bad characters here. The fighting and violence is more spoofy though and not that scary for anyone who is not an easily scared small child. Older children would love the show especially if they are into fantasy and wizards and Harry Potter in particular. Many of the actors in the show play a variety of roles. They are really good at making all of their characters different and slipping from one role into another. In fact, the acting in show was very good.  All in all, it is just well acted and hilariously entertaining show.

We were given free tickets to Me The People: The Trump America Musical for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.
What: Me The People: The Trump America Musical

Where: Stage 72 at the Triad Theatre
             158 W. 72nd St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for ages 16 and up

When: Now through September 3, 2017

Mom - If you were less than thrilled with the results of our most recent election and/or the direction our country is heading and you want to be among people who feel like you do, you won't want to miss Me The People: The Trump America Musical. It is said that there is fine line between laughter and tears, and this show certainly makes you laugh. The four talented performers appearing in this show take on everyone from Trumps various family members,  to Supreme Court Judges, to Russian spies and more in a hilarious manner. Even Democrats are not competely free from their skewering. Both the character of Bill and of Hilary Clinton make an appearance in the show. Just about anything or anyone that has been in  the headlines with regard to Donald Trump makes an appearance in this show including Twitter, reporters, and Mar-a-Lago. The music is all old familiar songs set to new timely and very entertaining lyrics. All in all, the show is a blast. Drinks are available at the show venue and a two drink minimum is required with your ticket purchase. Although, there is juice, soda, and water available, of course there are a lot of alcoholic beverages being served. For this reason and because of some of the language etc. used in the show this is not a good show for younger children although it is probably okay for older teens. The show is currently scheduled to run through September 3, 2017.
