I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Eight Reasons to See Hello Dolly Even When Bette Midler is Not In It !

Me & Mom- Of course, Bette Midler is  a well-known talented Oscar nominated, Golden Globe winning, Grammy winning, Tony winning actress. It would be great to have the opportunity to see her in her Tony winning role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in the production of Hello Dolly that is currently running on Broadway. However, Bette is not the only reason to see this wonderful show. Even when Bette takes a night off or goes on vacation, it is still a great show. See below for eight great reasons why.

1- The actress who fills in for her, Donna Murphy is a 2 time Tony Winning Actress and is also great in the part and has a beautiful voice!

2- There are lot of other experienced award nominated and/or award winning actors in the cast too including:

Tony award winner -David Hyde Pierce
Tony award nominee - Kate Baldwin
Tony award winner - Gavin Creel

All of these performers received Tony nominations for this show as well as for other shows they have previously appeared in. Gavin Creel (pictured above) actually won a Tony award for best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Cornelius Hackel in this show.

3- The newcomers in the cast like Beanie Feldstein are very talented too,

4- The plot of the show which involves Dolly Levi Gallagher, a matchmaker trying to make a match for herself while at the same time pairing up various others is very entertaining and funny.

5- The songs are good and some of them are classics including the title number.

6- The sets are elaborate.

7- The costumes are very colorful.

8- It is just a fun experience that you won't forget!
