I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show

We were given free ticket to the New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.
What: New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show

Where: 2900 Southern Blvd.
            Bronx, NY

Who: All ages

Me - The New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show was beautiful. It was a train show and the buildings and things were made out of nature and trees and plants and things. The model trains were the biggest ones that I've seen. They were model G which are the biggest size of model trains. The buildings represented buildings in New York City as they were in the past. They also had a bunch of bridges to represent the bridges in New York. They had the Cyclone and the Wonder Wheel from Coney Island and an Elephant structure that used to be there. There were historic row houses. There was Yankee Stadium. The flowers were really pretty. There was the old Penn Station from before they renovated it. It was kind of funny too me that they had this whole exhibit full of nature but the Christmas trees at the exhibit that weren't part of the train exhibit itself were fake. People who like trains or flowers would like this exhibit. Over all, it was a really fun exhibit, and I would really recommend it.

Mom - The New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show is not your average holiday train show. The buildings that the trains go zipping around in this exhibit are not just any old arbitrary buildings. They are re-creations of historic New York Buildings and locations including the Guggenheim, the Statute of Liberty, the original Pennyslvania Station, even the New York Botanical Garden itself and many more as they were in the past. There are whole sections of the exhibit that portray specific areas including the South Street Seaport area, Midtown Manhattan, Central Park, Luna Park in Coney Island and more. Overhead are many of New York's famous bridges. All of this would make the exhibit special enough. However, that is not even what makes it truly special. What makes it truly special is that except for the trains themselves and the train tracks everything else on display is completely made from bark, leaves, and other natural materials. Not only is the exhibit beautiful to look at, the workmanship is incredible. Every aspect of every building, bridge and other item on display is painstackingly recreated down to the tiniest detail.   It is truly incredible! Whether you like trains or you are into nature or you just love the holidays, anyone of any age can find something to enjoy about this exhibit. However, it will only be open through January 15, and then, it will be retired until the next Winter holiday season.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.

  1. Despite the fact that I am a huge flower fan I've never been to the NY Botanical Gardens. The holiday train show looks fabulous.

    1. This was the first time we went to the NY Botanical Gardens. The show was even more amazing and beautiful in person than it appears in pictures. Thank you for visiting Says Me Says Mom and your comment.
