I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Mom - I recently had the honor of seeing six time Tony Award Winner, Audra McDonald, in concert with  the New York Philharmonic. Having never had the opportunity to see Ms. McDonald in any of her stage roles, I really looked forward to the concert and felt certain that I would love it before I even went. I definitely was not disappointed. Her voice sounds even more glorious in person than it does on a recording or on television. She literally could sing the phone book, and it would still sound beautiful and be entertaining. She filled the evening with showtunes, a mix of songs from shows she's been in, songs she has always wanted to sing and maybe a few other songs thrown in too. I assume she had a set list of songs that she was going to sing, but she chose not to list them in the program. Instead, she introduced each song from the stage which gave the concert a more informal feel like an intimate gathering between friends (albeit quite a large group of friends). Her great rapport with the audience made it feel even more like a small intimate gathering. All in all, it was a fantastic evening from start to finish which passed by all too quickly.

A live recording of the concert is now available digitally under the title, Get Happy.  It will be available in physical format from Decca Gold on May 25.

For more information about upcoming Audra McDonald concerts and/or upcoming concerts at David Geffen Hall, see above.

And that's Mom's view. Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.
